About Me
Journalist | Writer | Storyteller | Crime Thriller Author
Hello, I’m Marcella.
I’m a writer, journalist and storyteller based in London. For many years, my work has taken me into the worlds of defence, military history and current affairs, as well as travel, books and culture. I’ve written, reported, edited and asked a lot of questions along the way — and I’ve always been fascinated by what lies behind the obvious story.
My journalistic career grew from a particular kind of curiosity: wanting to understand people, places and events rather than simply describe them. That curiosity has taken me from military exercises and defence communities to conversations with fascinating people, unfamiliar places and stories that stayed with me long after the article was finished.
I was also the founder and editor-in-chief of Tactica Magazine, a publication focused on defence, law enforcement and emergency services. It gave me the opportunity to bring together two things I have always loved: discovering a good story and finding the right way to tell it.
Today, I’m bringing that experience into a new chapter of my writing.
I’m increasingly drawn to fiction — especially crime, thrillers and stories shaped by history, place and human nature. London is an endless source of inspiration, and I’m particularly interested in the hidden worlds that exist behind its streets, buildings and familiar landmarks. Some of my current work begins in Fleet Street, where history, journalism, power and secrets seem to have an unusually close relationship.
But this website is not only about fiction.
I still love discovering real stories. I love books — reading them, talking about them and finding the ones that deserve more attention. I’m fascinated by history, museums, military affairs, travel and the little details that can turn an ordinary place or event into a memorable story.
And, perhaps inevitably for someone who has spent so much of her life asking questions, I’m always researching something.
Sometimes it is a historical event. Sometimes it is a military operation. Sometimes it is a London street, an old building, a forgotten person or a particularly unpleasant murder.
I’m happy in all of those worlds.
This site is where I bring them together: journalism, books, history, research, London and fiction — all connected by a lifelong love of stories and the people who create them.
Thank you for stopping by.
I hope you’ll stay and explore.
